Five-time WWF champion The Rock takes his recipe for success to the big screen in his first starring vehicle, the much-ballyhooed The Scorpion King, a prequel to the hit films The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.
In this one, The Rock, as a lowly but surprisingly muscular peasant, witnesses his village destroyed by marauders. Enraged and well-oiled, he deals many furious smack-downs to his enemies on his way to becoming the first pharaoh of Egypt.
The Rock says "that instead of the rumored reshoots needed for the film, Universal had already planned "additional photography" in advance because his commitments to the WWF made it impossible for him to shoot more than three days at a time. "My schedule made it difficult on the production," he says. "I just watched maybe 30 percent of it, and I'm so happy about it. It's a fun movie, a fun ride for everybody — it's so entertaining."
